24 students arrested in sex party in Taita Taveta

At least 24 students and pupils aged between 13 and 23 years have been arrested in a bar along Mwatate-Wundanyi road in Taita Taveta county. The students, some of whom were scantily dressed, were found drinking alcohol, smoking bhang and cigarettes, chewing miraa and engaging in immorality.

Confirming the incident, Mwatate OCPD Monica Kimani said the police acted after they were tipped off by members of the public who raised concern over the behavior of the learners, the Standard reported. “The girls were wearing provocative dresses and we found some of them in a compromising situation,” said Kimani, noting eight girls and 16 boys were arrested.Taita Taveta: 24 learners arrested in sex party, smoking bhang

“We cannot allow such behaviors to continue happening in the area. Parents should ensure they protect their children during school holidays especially during this Christmas and New Year festive season,” she added.

The police boss said parents stormed the police station demanding to have their children released but all was in vain as the officers were determined to ensure discipline and order is restored among the learners. “We are closely working with chiefs and their assistants, elders, Nyumba Kumi and members of the community policing to eradicate crime during the December holidays,” she said.

However, this is not the first case as other 89 learners were arrested in the county under the same circumstances in the recent past. Out of the 89 learners, 56 were charged in court alongside club manager Silas Ovoringwa where they were drinking.
