Romelu Lukaku Myth EXPOSED Because Of Two Players

Manchester United hitman Lukaku toiled as the Red Devils slumped to a 3-1 Premier League defeat to Liverpool at Anfield last week.

The Belgium international’s performance that day has drawn criticism with many feeling him to be out of his depth over at Old Trafford.

And former Liverpool powerhouse Ruddock believes claims Lukaku is good for Belgium are wide off the mark.

Instead, he puts his improved performances for his country down to having the likes of Hazard and De Bruyne around him.

“I was just amazed at Romelu Lukaku,” Ruddock told Express Sport The Sportsman’s Christmas Party.

“I don’t want to have a go at people – I’ll never have a go at professional footballers because it can be hard out there.

“But people say when he plays for Belgium he’s a different player.

“There, though, he’s got [Eden] Hazard, [Kevin] De Bruyne, all these beautiful players around him.

“If Lukaku does not perform, then United do not perform.

Ruddock also believes Lukaku was wrong to stand by Virgil van Dijk during the Premier League showdown with Liverpool at Anfield last week.

Van Dijk easily nullified the Belgium international on a huge afternoon for the home side.

And Ruddock believes Lukaku should have tried to exploit the weaknesses of Dejan Lovren instead.

“He should not have stood next to Virgil van Dijk,” he said.“He should have stood next to the other centre-half, Lovren.United vs Liverpool last year Lukaku bullied Lovren. But he was standing by Van Dijk all day.

“As a centre-half you know someone has bullied you. I was shocked. It was terrible.”
