Gor Mahia Fail to Make History After Lobi Beat Down

Kenyan Champions Gor Mahia once again squandered a chance to make football history by falling victims to a Lobi Stars beat down in a CAF Champions League Match played at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, Nigeria.

Having beaten the Nigerian outfit 3-1 in the First leg match last weekend, Gor Mahia was hoping to progress to the group stage for the first time in their history but this was not to be as Lobi’s Sikiru Alimi grabbed a brace in the second half to all but kill Gor Mahia’s dreams.

The match ended 3-3 on aggregate meaning that Lobi Stars qualified on the Away Goal Rule.

Last year, Gor also came close to qualification – losing out 0-1 to eventual champions, Esperence, and eventually settled for an appearance in the CAF Confederations Cup group stage instead.

The same script is again repeated this Year as Gor will now shift it’s attention to the CAF Confederations Cup.
