Alexis Sanchez won a £20,000 bet with Manchester United team-mate Marcos Rojo over the sacking of Jose Mourinho, according to reports.

The Chilean reportedly sent a message to the players’ WhatApp group celebrating Mourinho’s departure and claiming he was now owed the five-figure sum from the defender.

According to The Sun, the message read: “I told you so!! Patience is all it takes. Rojo you owe me £20k.”

United shattered the club’s pay structure to sign £505,000-a-week Sanchez in January, however he is yet to perform anywhere near his potential.

The ex-Arsenal forward is one of several big-money signings who failed to impress under Mourinho and ultimately contributed to his demise.

Sanchez, who is currently recovering from a hamstring injury, has just one goal in 12 appearances this season.

The astonishing reports come after allegations of Paul Pogba leading euphoric scenes in the dressing room at Carrington on Tuesday morning.

Pogba reportedly shouted: “He thought he could make a fool of me and turn the fans against me. He f***ed with the wrong baller.”

Both Sanchez and Pogba are understood to have endured long-running feuds with Mourinho behind the scenes.

The Sun reports that Michael Carrick was forced to intervene as the players celebrated news of Mourinho’s departure, reminding them that no player is bigger than the club.

Meanwhile, Mourinho issued a statement saying he will not be drawn into comments about his relationship with certain individuals at the club.
