Alfred Mutua Declares his candidature for 2022 Presidency

Fresh from winning an election petition at the Supreme Court, Machako governor Alfred Mutua has declared his candidature for the 2022 presidency.

The Supreme Court on Friday upheld Alfred Mutua’s win in the 2017 Machakos governor election. The apex court ruled that the Appeals Court erred in nullifying the county boss’ win.

Through lawyer Kioko Kilukumi, Mutua said the Appeal judges erred by nullifying the elections on grounds that it failed the test of constitutional verifiability. The court ruled that the governor was validly elected and asked his competitor Wavinya Ndeti to meet all costs of the case.

And now Mutua believes this is a green-light for his journey to become Kenya’s 5th President after President Kenyatta’s term comes to an end in 2022.

“We need a new brand of leadership that builds on the great work done by our other great leaders such as Jomo Kenyatta, Daniel Arap Moi, Mwai Kibaki, Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta.” He said through his official Twitter handle.

Mutua will have to beat DP William Ruto in the 2022 State House Race to fulfill his dream. And as the governor was celebrating his win in court, Ruto who is famously known as the hustler was acquiring a new title. He is now Dr. William Ruto after graduating from UoN with a PhD in plant ecology.
