Mourinho’s Former Assistant Makes Next Job Revelation After Man Utd Sacking

That is the view of Steve Clarke, who was Jose Mourinho’s assistant when the Portuguese managed Chelsea in his first spell with the club.
Manchester United sacked Mourinho on Tuesday morning after the 55-year-old had a face-to-face meeting with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

The Red Devils’ 3-1 defeat to Liverpool last Sunday proved to be the final straw for Woodward.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has since been named interim boss until the end of the season, when Woodward will make a decision on a permanent replacement. But Clarke has said that Mourinho won’t have any problems finding a new job.

“I’m sure he won’t be short of offers, that’s for sure,” he told Sky Sports.

“He’ll look at the market in the future and I’m pretty sure one of the top clubs in Europe will come calling soon and offer him another job. He’s a serial winner.”

The Kilmarnock boss also said that it was hard to label Mourinho’s time in Manchester as a ‘failure’ because of his trophy success.

“He won three trophies, the Community Shield, the Europa League, the League Cup, so that’s three trophies more than Liverpool in the same period, more than Tottenham,” Clarke added.

“So was he a failure or was he not a failure. I’m not sure. He finished second last year.”

Clarke and Mourinho worked together for three years and won two Premier Leagues together at Chelsea in 2004/05 and 2005/06.

Mourinho has since managed Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Chelsea again before taking on the job at United in the summer of 2016.

But the former-Chelsea boss has had a torrid season with United, and was criticised for the lack of exciting football.

The two-time Champions League winner, though, refused to speak negatively on his time in Manchester.

“I was always very critical of managers that leave clubs and then they come out and they speak about the details of what happened, who is to blame,” he told Sky Sports.

“I could speak about the not-so-good, but that’s not me.

“Until I get back to football, I feel I have the right to live my normal life.

“Manchester United has a future without me and I have a future without Manchester United.”
