Kenyan blogger Cyprian Nyakundi has always been known for writing the most controversial articles and especially about powerful and influential Kenyans. Most of the times, the authenticity of his articles have been questioned.
The High Court has now barred controversial blogger Cyprian Nyakundi from publishing defamatory words against politician Steve Mbogo and his wife, Swabrina Jamal.
In the orders issued on today, Nyakundi was directed to bring down all articles and social media posts he published about Steve Mbogo on November 28, 2018. Mbogo had moved to court claiming that Nyakundi published defamatory articles on his website linked to his marriage.
The blogger published an article accusing Mbogo of cheating on his wife, stating that he took a girl to Europe to ease his frustrations after he lost the election to Jaguar.
The Ex Starehe aspirant claimed that as a result of the said defamatory publication, other bloggers and users of online platforms had shared the story and turned him into a subject of discussion.
“The article written by the plaintiff to the utter prejudice of the plaintiff whose reputation has been and continues to be immensely damaged and have been turned into objects of cyber bullying unless the orders herein are granted , at least in the interim to curtail further dissemination of the defamatory articles written by the respondents against the applicants,” reads court papers.
Steve Mbogo said that there was no justification for the blogger Nyakundi to publish a defamatory article concerning him and his family. The politician further claimed that the said article has caused damage to their reputation.
