Can the Real Pogba Finally Show up at Old Trafford?

Paul Pogba has been challenged to finally prove his worth at Manchester United following Jose Mourinho’s sacking.

The midfielder has failed to justify his massive price tag since returning to Old Trafford for a then £89million world-record fee from Juventus in 2016.

Pogba led France to World Cup glory in Russia last summer, but he has been unable to hit the same heights at club level, and has even struggled to nail down a spot in United’s starting XI. The 25-year-old had a fractured relationship with Mourinho before his sacking – and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival could give him a new lease a life.

Former Juventus and France star David Trezeguet has challenged Pogba to show United fans what he can do. Trezeguet told Mirror Sport : “He was exceptional in Russia last summer and key to success as he took a leadership role.

“Now, of course the fans and the media expect a lot from him and so he must demonstrate his qualities with Manchester United and set the bar high himself.”

Pogba starred in Serie A but has found the Premier League more difficult. He has been linked with a move back to Italy, while Barcelona have also been keen on his services. But Trezeguet insists English football provides a completely different challenge than the other leagues on the continent.

He added: “The Premier League is fantastic – the quality of the teams, the players – this is the very best in the world.

“The main difference with Italy and Spain is that the game is more physical and less focused on the tactical aspects. But this is evolving with the arrival of Pep Guardiola and Maurizio Sarri.”
