Days after coming out of a coma,celebrated Tanzanian musician Ommy Dimpoz has been flown to Germany for advanced treatment after his rehabilitation from a major throat surgery is said to have turned tragic.
According to his father, Faraji Nyembo, pus had formed in the lining of his son’s throat after he underwent a throat surgery in South Africa in April this year.
After the surgical operation, his condition slightly improved. It, however, deteriorated recently, forcing the musician’s kinsmen to fly him to Germany upon advice that he would get specialised treatment in the European nation.

“I can confirm that my son was flown to Germany for advanced treatment recently. His ailment is degenerative, but we hope he improves. All I can request Tanzanians is that they pray for him so that he can fully recover,” said Faraji.
Ommy Dimpoz underwent throat surgery in South Africa nearly eight months ago.After the surgery, Ommy remained in comma for nine days before gaining consciousness.
He recuperated at the hospital for three month before relocating to Mombasa.
Reports now indicate that since returning home, Ommy’s condition deteriorated after the surgery wound became septic.
“Baada ya kufanyiwa upasuaji ule wa awali, Dimpoz alikwenda kupumzika Mombasa. Baadaye alipokwenda kuchekiwa baada ya miezi mitatu kupita, alikutwa na tatizo hili la usaha, akapatiwa matibabu kisha kurejea nchini. Tuliamini sasa Dimpoz anarudi kwenye hali yake maana alionekana kupata afueni kubwa lakini ndivyo hivyo tena, hali ilibadilika ghafla,” a family source was quoted by Global TV.
Ommy, who is signed to Alikiba’s RockStar4000 record labe,l is expected to undergo another surgery in Germany to clean up the puss.
The singer tribulations started April this year during Alikiba’s wedding when he first noticed he had trouble swallowing food.
In a past interview, Ommy disclosed that his South African doctors informed him his illness was as a result of food poison.
