Raila Odinga has taken to twitter to reveal that together with Mama Ida Odinga they welcomed President Uhuru Kenyatta to the Museum of his Father the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, where he laid wreaths at his Mausoleum as well as the final resting place of their late Son Fidel Odinga.

Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Mausoleum at Kang’o ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County, is a must-visit for history lovers.It holds a rich legacy of the independence hero who helped shape Kenya’s political history.

The mausoleum is a cultural, historical monument erected in remembrance of Kenya’s first Vice-President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.

The beautiful historical site is a one stop community museum and a Luo heroes exhibition centre.

The late Fidel died in his father Raila Odinga’s arms in his residence at Bel Air Country Homes, off Miotoni Road, Karen, only hours after coming back from a night out in Westlands.

Besides the political circle that his father, the CORD leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was grooming him towards, the easy-going Fidel was less aggressive on political matters and more often than ever denied that he was ready to join active politics.

President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga were on Friday conferred with honorary doctorates for their historic handshake that brought the two political titans together.

The two were honoured during the graduation ceremony at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology.

Vice-chancellor Professor Stephen Agong said the event at the institution’s main campus in Bondo, was as a result of their historical handshake that sought to bring to an end ethnic antagonism and mischievous political

Speaking after the ceremony, Mr. Odinga said the handshake was a way of addressing historical issues that have dogged the country for long.
