When Liverpool take to the field for their highly anticipated Premier League clash against Manchester Unitd on Sunday they will be gunning to take another step closer to breaking an impressive club record that has stood for nearly 10 years.

The Reds are currently undefeated in a whopping 28 Premier League matches at Anfield, dating all the way back to April 2017 when former player Christian Benteke came back to haunt them after bagging a brace in a shock 2-1 success for Crystal Palace.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have since amassed 66 top-flight points on their own patch, courtesy of 19 wins, nine draws, and zero defeats.

If Liverpool avoid defeat in their next couple of home games against Man Utd and Newcastle, they will match their 30-game undefeated home league streak, achieved between 2005 and 2007.

Then, if the Merseyside outfit hold on in their following home clash against Arsenal they will equal their best ever home unbeaten run in the Premier League era – 31 games between 2007 and 2009.

If this occurs, a win or draw against Crystal Palace on 19th January 2009 would see the club break their Premier League record, and hit 32 matches unbeaten on home soil.

However, this would still be somewhat short of their all-time tally, which stands at a staggering 63 unbeaten home league games between February 1978 and January 1981 under Bob Paisley, during which they lifted the title on two occasions.

Chelsea are the top dogs when it comes to the longest unbeaten home record in the Premier League era. From a 2-1 win over Fulham in March 2004 through to October 2008, the Blues went a gargantuan 86 games without a defeat, which totalled an eye-popping 1,462 days, before Liverpool ended the sensational streak with a slender 1-0 win.

Chelsea’s record is double that of the next best, Man City, who went 37 Premier League games unbeaten at the Etihad between 2010 and 2012. Man Utd are third and fourth with 36 and 35 unbeaten games, while Arsenal make up the top-five.
