Michelle Obama shatters glass ceiling with new memoir

Former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama is undeniably one of the most influential women on a global platform. Her influence has been evident in the manner in which her new memoir, Becoming has been widely sort after by people all around the world, a clear indication that people are interested in her life.

Michelle Obama can now add a new check mark on her list of accomplishments as the author of one of the fastest-selling non-fiction books in history.

According to Crown Publishing, her book which was published about four weeks ago, has now topped $3 million in sales.

As a result, fans of Obama’s memoir will get more chances to see her in person on her book tour, which she is now extending into 2019.

 

 

“I’m having so much fun with all of you on my #IAmBecoming tour that I decided to do one final round of events to see folks in some cities we missed! These conversations have been so meaningful for me, and I hope they’ve been meaningful for you all, too,” said Michelle on Twitter.

The memoir Becoming was bound to become a massive hit when 1.4 million copies in print and digital formats in the U.S. and Canada were sold only one week after publication.

Mrs. Obama’s book is now among the best-selling political memoirs of all time and one of the fastest-selling non-fiction books in history which puts America’s first-ever black first lady in a new record book.

Live Nation and Crown Publishing announced that Michelle Obama will have 21 events next year with six of them being in Europe.

The former First Lady has been selling out stadiums on her tour while appearing at such arenas as New York City’s Barclays Center and Chicago’s United Center, with guest interviewers including Oprah Winfrey and Reese Witherspoon.

Last week, she was in London at the Southbank Centre with writer Chimamanda Ngozi and afterwards met backstage for a private chat with one of her admirers, the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle but had to cut short her trip to attend the funeral of the late President George H.W. Bush.

Obama’s book tour is now scheduled to end May 12 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.
