Are Chelsea battling Bayern Munich for Lyon’s Nabil Fekir?

As per a report from France Football, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are the two ‘most interested parties’ in the signature of Lyon star Nabil Fekir.

Fekir, a versatile attacker/midfielder who can play anywhere across the frontline or in an attacking midfield role. He first broke into the first-team ranks of Lyon in 2013, having come up through the club’s youth system.

And the gifted Frenchman has since gone on to establish himself as both the standout performer and captain for OL, with his performances last season in particular having caught the eye of a number of European heavyweights.

All told, Fekir racked up an impressive 23 goals and 8 assists across all competitions.

In the end, following a lengthy saga, it looked for all intents and purposes as though the 25-year-old was set to secure a summer move to the Premier League, with Liverpool the proposed destination.

In fact, photos even emerged of an apparent interview carried out between the Frenchman and LFC TV back in June.

However, much to the dismay of Liverpool’s fans, the Reds’ move for Fekir eventually collapsed. An apparent last-minute ‘transfer fee change’ saw Lyon pull the plug on negotiations with the board at Anfield.

As a result, Fekir has since remained at the Groupama Stadium.

Nevertheless, though, the rumours surrounding the World Cup winner’s future have persisted over the months since.

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have been the club most persistently-touted as a potential next destination for Fekir, with a report from France Football this afternoon having confirmed that the Bavarians remain interested in securing his signature either next month or next summer.

However, the report also adds that Bayern face serious competition for Fekir, from Premier League outfit Chelsea.

The Blues are said to be closely monitoring the French attacker’s situation at the Groupama Stadium, with Maurizio Sarri eager to alleviate some of the creative burden on the shoulders of Eden Hazard.
