Sad!!Another Catholic priest shot dead

Police have launched a manhunt in the Kinoo/Regen area in a bid to apprehend the killers of a Catholic priest.

Father John Njoroge who was based at Kinoo Parish in Kiambu County, was on Monday shot dead shortly after he left a banking hall.

The priest was reportedly accompanied by a staff member of his parish.

According to Kiambu County Police Commander Andiel Nyange said a gang of four on two motorcycles obstructed the priest on a rough road.He was forced to pull over and the thieves demanded a bag that was in the car.

Nyange said a gunman shot through the windscreen of the Toyota Harrier and a bullet hit the priest on the chest.The police boss said the priest was taking Sunday’s offering to a bank in Kikuyu town.

“All the money he had in a bag was stolen. We don’t know the amount but we are investigating. The robbers stole the phone of an occupant in the Father’s car,” he said.

The gangsters are said to have fled  from the scene on two motorbikes with an unknown sum of money during the incident which happened at Regen area.

Fr. Njoroge who hails from Gatitu in Gatundu was ordained to priesthood on 30th December 1994 and was serving at St Peter the Rock Parish, Kinoo.
