Dj Pinye claims he is the godfather of Kenyan music

Dj Pinye is still on the trends from his statement to explain why he  never used to play songs of some Kenyan artists.

This was during an interview on NRG Radio where he admitted that during ‘the beat era’ time came when he had to lock out some artists for their low standard songs.

Many believe that during that time, the Dj  was in charge of music and he could have done better having that artists used to complain that their songs were never played.

Was he a let down in the music industry? Well Dj Pinye denied that he was.

“How would I have let the music Industry down? I could not play everyone’s music what happened is we created our own standards in the show. People who were complaining, their music did not meet our standards they should have complained..” he said

He also added that although he did not play some music by certain artists  they still ended up being successful.

Citing examples, the Dj mentioned Khaligraph Jones and DNA as people who did not meet the cut.

He however said that right now he could play their music because they have grown in the industry.

Dj Pinye said that Khaligraph Jones  had to work hard to earn the respect

On rejecting the Banjuka song by DNA, Pinye said that the  Banjuka  video was not good so he had to ask DNA do another video before he could play it.

Being a DJ on one of the most popular music show back in the day, Dj Pinye insists that there was a need to make sure that they offer what was quality and had to set up standards.

“All the guys who complained, if people are not playing your music it means there are other ways you can make it”

He also mentioned that success is not measured by only a million you tube views but people have to work hard and even look forward to getting 100 million views.

His opinion  however drew a lot of reaction as DNA spit fire last night over the matter.
