Why Mourinho has refused to talk to MUTV and wants Arsenal TV

Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho has refused to give a detailed update on his team news to the club’s in-house television channel MUTV ahead of Wednesday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal.

Mourinho is facing a selection dilemma in defence, with Ashley Young suspended, and Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly all currently carrying injuries.

The United boss said he was not prepared to discuss which players would be available, despite being questioned on the matter by MUTV.

“I don’t want to update you, I would like Arsenal TV to make the same questions but they don’t, they hide everything from the inside, so why should I answer to you,” said Mourinho. “We are going to be in difficulty again to build the team. We are again going to have to make adaptations and compensations to try to give some balance to the team. But then I believe we are again going to have the spirit to fight and to try to win the match.”

Phil Jones and Luke Shaw picked up knocks in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Southampton, meanwhile, meaning that Mourinho will have to put together a makeshift defence for the clash with the Gunners. United are currently seventh in the Premier League table, eight points off fourth-placed Arsenal.
