Mombasa county speaker unable to get wife after being branded drug baron

No woman would want to marry drug lord. Mombasa County Assembly speaker, Khatri Haroon has accused former Coast regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa of messing up his chances of ever marrying after he labeled him a drug baron. According to the speaker, after Marwa publicly called him a drug baron, he has been unable to woe any lady and is still single.

Harron told Lady Justice Dorah Chepkwony his reputation had been dented greatly by Marwa’s remarks in the media while holding a press conference. “I am single, and is finding it hard to get married. I have been turned down in the past two proposals.

I have been dismissed and told that I should not bring my dirty business to their family,” said Haroon. Haroon also said that he is unable to sign any new business deals as people who check out his credentials, end up associating him with a drug baron.

He also claimed since January 14, 2017, he has not been able to sign any new deal with cargo transporters in his transport business company. “It is difficult to do any business with anyone yet I am a young man because if they google my name, they see me as a drug baron. The young speaker further accused Marwa of erecting posters and labeling him as a most wanted person and placing a KSh 2 million bounty on his head.

He said that as a result, his life was endangered and caused anxiety among his family members who are always worried about his safety. Haroon also accused Marwa of accusing him of owning an armory in his house despite police verifying that his three guns were licensed. The speaker now wants Marwa to appear in court and explain why he had labeled him as a drug baron under Joho’s protection yet he had never been charged of drug trafficking any of it.

“During investigations, I was never arrested over possession of guns. I was cleared. Neither was I arrested for drugs,” said Haroon. The speaker now wants the high court to award him damages for the slander and loss of business. He said that the words were injurious, slanderous, to him and had cast him in a bad light with the society.
