“Stick to planting grass!” Sonko feels the wrath of wananchi

You can’t irk the common Mwananchi and get away with it. Governor Mike Sonko now understands the meaning of this statement.

After an uproar from Kenyans over Sonko’s controversial decision to ban Matatus from CBD, the governor bowed to pressure and suspended the ban on Tuesday morning.

“After Monday’s pilot project of decongesting Nairobi’s CBD, I have suspended gazette notice 4479 of 12th May 2017 with immediate effect. We’ve noted with deep concern the plight of commuters if the ban was to be effected without the missing link of a commuter train & BRT system.” Reads part of Press Statement he send to newsrooms.

But this was not enough for Kenyans, who were deeply affected by the ban. There was inconvenience and chaos in the city during day one of the implementation as most people walked for long distances to work.

And it seems even with Sonko  lifting the ban, Kenyans have not forgotten what he made them go through. And they made him know it.
