It’s a derby: Why Arsenal and Tottenham have been charged by the FA

Dier ‘hushed’ the Emirates crowd by putting his finger to his lips when he equalised for Spurs in the first-half, with the Gunners eventually going on to win 4-2.

Arsenal substitutes warming up nearby, including Aaron Ramsey and Stephen Lichtsteiner, took issue with Dier’s antics, sparking a melee between both sets of players.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino ran the length of the touchline to try and diffuse the situation.Both clubs have been charged with failing to “ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion” and have until 6pm on Thursday to respond.

Meanwhile, a Tottenham fan was arrested and banned ‘indefinitely’ for throwing a banana skin at goalscorer Aubameyang.

A Spurs spokesman said: “Behaviour such as this is completely unacceptable and the supporter in question will be issued with a ban.”

Aubameyang posted a picture of the incident, with the caption ‘#whysmandoingthis’ and an emoji of a banana.

The fiery encounter was reflected in the stands, with a total of six arrests made and four supporters charged.
