Shocker! woman nabbed for attempts to impersonate royal media presenter

A 26-year-old woman is being held at Bondo Police Station after she was arrested for allegedly impersonating a presenter of Royal Media Services’ vernacular station Radio Ramogi.

Florence Awino Agunda, a radio fan who is popularly known as ‘Flo Nyar Agunda’ was arrested in Bondo town, Siaya County after she went to a shop in the area claiming that she was Lydia Akoth of Ramogi.

The shop is owned by Mr. George Ouka, whose son is among the two university students who drowned in the waters of River Yala last month.

According to Mr. Ouka, the suspect went to him on Friday, November 30, 2018 claiming that she wanted to assist the family to get help from Radio Ramogi, following the loss that they incurred as a result of the drowning incident.

This, according to Mr. Ouka, sounded suspicious, prompting him to begin tracking the suspect after she had left his shop.

The shop owner said he contacted the suspect and lured her back to the shop on Saturday before she was nabbed by local residents who frogmarched her to Bondo Police Station.

Bondo OCPD Harriet Kinya said the woman was found in possession of some fake business cards bearing the name of Lydiah Akoth.

The OCPD added that investigations were underway and the suspect is set to be arraigned next week to face impersonation charges
