Arsenal pummel Tottenham

Arsenal have emerged victors once again over Tottenham Hotspur with a 4-2 win at the Emirates Stadium.

A brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, single strikes from Alexander Lacazette and Lucas Torreira ensured Emirates hostility on Tottenham continued. Eric Dier and Harry Kane scored for Tottenham Hotspurs. Jan Vertoghen was red carded for a second booking after he latched onto Lacazette as the Gunners forward tried to find his way towards the goal. His initial booking came for handling the ball inside the area.

A first half that became epic courtesy of verve and energy culminated in an early penalty for Arsenal. Aubameyang converted it in the eight minutes after Vertonghen handled the ball from a free-kick taken by Granit Xhaka. Hugo Lloris was squarely beaten in that penalty taking the challenge as he dived an opposite direction to the ball.

The former Borussia Dortmund man should have doubled the goal number for the Gunners after Iwobi and Kolasinac played well before the low pass was put on his way into the six-yard box. Aubameyang was casual in handling the ball and bobbled off his feet.

Another free kick for Arsenal in the 19th minute almost caught Spurs flat-footed. Koalsinac was the recipient of the dead ball on the left part of the pitch, fed Iwobi whose shot was cleared by Lloris. Both Bellerin and Lucas Torreira saw their follow-up efforts go wide and Spurs survived the scare.

Eric Dier headed in a free kick from Christian Eriksen to earn parity at the Emirates, a ground that has been hostile to them in the last eight years. Bernd Leno, however, should have done better to keep the ball away as it caresses him and into the net.

Dier celebrated wildly in front of the host’s fans and that led to some chaos that required Mauricio Pochetino to race down the touchline to cool his forces and pleaded with them to return onto the pitch. Aubameyang had also goaded the Spurs’ faithful after his penalty and whether Dier was avenging is a question the English midfielder can only answer sufficiently.

Mike Dean awarded a second penalty but this time Spurs were the beneficiaries. Holding was punished for bringing Son down inside the penalty zone. Kane converted the spot kick to in the 34th minute make his goal tally in the North London derby 8 and that has made him the king in that respect.

Lucas Torreira celebrates scoring the 4th Arsenal goal during the Premier League match between Arsenal FC and Tottenham Hotspu

Aubameyang is the first player to score 10 goals in the Premier League this season with a superb finish in the 56th minute at the edge of the box. Ramsey, who came on in the second half, brilliantly drilled a cross for the Gabonese forward to slot it past Lloris who all looked a witness to the proceedings.

Two quick goals put Arsenal in front once more. Ramsey robbed Foyth the ball inside Spurs half and sprayed it on Lacazatte’s way, the forward took a number of touches before firing and the ball went past Lloris after a slight deflection off Dier. Aubameynag created the fourth with a clever defence-splitting pass to Torreira. The Uruguayan beat Lloris for his first Premier League goal. Both goals were scored in a space of two minutes.
