The court was told that on November 22, Curtis Njagi Muchira uprooted a wooden cross from his father’s grave and threatened to hit his mother with it.

Mr. Muchira who hails from Kiriari Village in Embu North Sub-County was today arraigned in court for threatening to physically assault his biological mother, Jessa Karambu Ndwiga. He apparently warned her of dire consequences should she refuse to “kiss” the cross.

Muchira reportedly arrived at his mother’s house where she questioned him about her missing purse. The situation escalated as the 35-year old stormed out of the house and uprooted the cross on his father’s grave.

He then returned into the house and threatened to beat up his mother if she did not obey his command to kiss the cross. The mother terrified by her son’s actions, pleaded with her son not to harm her. Muchira then ordered his mother, Jessa to walk out of her house.

After frog-marching her out of her house for a short distance, Karambu managed to flee and reported the matter at an Embu police post. The police later arrested Muchira who had returned to his mother’s house.

The case will be heard on December 12, 2018.
