The Kenyan international midfielder is on the verge of completing a lucrative move to Algerian side USM Algers, a deal that could be sealed in the next few days.

According to sources, Francis Kahata is unlikely to feature for Gor Mahia against Malawi’s Nyasa Bullets in the CAF Africa Champions Cup match on Wednesday.

“He has now been excluded from training and will not play against the Malawians,” a close source explained.

The Algerian club is willing to cough up Ksh. 10 million to bring on board the highly rated Kenya international.

According to reports, the deal will see Gor Mahia pocketing Ksh. 8 million upfront with an additional Ksh. 2 million payable if he helps the Algerian club win the league and continental title.

Kahata on the other hand, could pocket up to Ksh. 600,000 as his monthly salary.

The impending move puts to rest speculations over the future of this left-footed Harambee Stars midfielder, who scored against Malawi in an international friendly in mid September this year.

Kahata starred for Gor Mahia in the league and continental assignments last season, leading to speculation that he was wanted by Tanzania’s bigwigs Simba and Yanga.

K’Ogalo are reportedly lining up former Mathare United and Tusker FC offensive midfielder Kevin Kimani as a possible Kahata’s replacement.

Kahata who joined Gor Mahia in 2016 after a short stint in Albania with KF Tirana has helped the club win two Kenyan Premier League titles in 2017 and 2018.

His away goal against SuperSport United in South Africa in April saw Gor Mahia reach the CAF Confederation Cup group for the first time this year.

At the group stage, Gor Mahia were pooled alongside USM Alger; the first leg in Nairobi ended 0-0 with USM Alger winning the return match 2-1.

In both legs, Kahata was among top performers, catching the attention of the Algerians.

Do you think Kahata will leave Gor Mahia?
