CS Joe Mucheru gives empty promises at the 2018 Kalasha Awards

 

It was thrilling night for the Film Industry as the 8th Kalasha gala awards went down at Nairobi’s Safari Park Hotel.

The red carpet event hosted by Jeff Koinange and Amina Abdi saw talent in the different facets of Film and TV industry awarded and recognized for their great work and contribution in trying to promote a vibrant local film industry.

 

 

Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of ICT Joe Mucheru was the Chief Guest at the 8th Kalasha Awards.

Speaking at the Kalasha awards, CS Joe Mucheru told film makers that he wanted to see a blockbuster movie that could be sold to the Chinese mass market and promised a competition to identify such a film.

The CS further promised to put together a task force that will see to it that all counties have a movie theatre.

KOT didn’t seem amused by the remarks of the cabinet secretary with some feeling as though the government has for the longest time neglected the industry.

 

Some of the biggest winners of the night were Subira and Supa Modo who both scooped four and five awards respectively.

 

 

Subira received the awards for Best Lead Actress for Brenda Wairimu, Best Lighting for Saul Ogada, Best Editor for Roselida Tabu and Terry Kelly, Best Director for Ravneet Sippy Chanda and the most coveted gong the Best Feature Film.

 

 

Supa Modo film which has received awards from across the globe scooped the awards for Best supporting actress in a film for Marianne Nungo, Best Production Designer for Neha Manoj Shah, Best Original Screenplay and Best Lead Actor in a Film for Johnson Chege.

The writer of Supa Modo, Mugambi Nthiga gave the acceptance speech after receiving the award for Best Original Screenplay.
