Police reports say that the students who were in pairs were busted singing and dancing while indulging in alcohol and engaging in sexual activities.

Bomet township location Chief Reuben Ng’etich who led the operation said concerned neighbours at the village raised alarm after hearing loud music and shouting at the house.

“At a round 11:00 pm on Friday I was called by locals over students shouting and dancing and I alerted police and we conducted an operation where we arrested 30 underage boys and girls and who discovered were students who had completed their KCSE exams,” Ng’etich

Ng’etich also said that empty beer bottles and used condoms were found at the scene. According to the administrator, police have so far  arrested a woman believed to have supplied the students with alcohol.

While confirming the incident, Bomet OCPD Samson Rukunga said they are still investigating whether all the 30 boys and girls busted at the sex party are all students.

“Yes, I can confirm we made arrest last night and we are treating them as normal drunkards as we try and find out if they are actually students.” said Rukunga adding that some of them appeared to be much older.

While the parents of some of the students arrested camped outside the police station hoping to secure the release of their children, the police boss maintained that the 30 would be charged in court on Monday.

The incident comes in the wake of the rising number of teenage pregnancies that have shocked the country and raised concern in the Ministry of Education led by Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed who has termed the menace as a ‘national cricis.’

Just this year, more than 20 girls sat for their KCSE exam while pregnant with three of them delivering during the exam period.

Local leaders led by Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso have called for stern action to stem the vice with the governor saying that her administration will initiate a sensitization program to try and fight the vice within the county.

The Governor also decried men she claims are taking advantage of young girls to exploit them sexually.

“As we move out to sensitize the public, we are going to stress on men taking advantage of young girls since I believe this is where the problem is,” she said.

If these are the ‘leaders of tomorrow’, it looks likes out society is slowly going to the dogs. While each individual is responsible for their own actions, who do you think is to blame for the corrupt morals in our society especially among the youth?
