Quack doctor James Mugo Ndichu alias Dr Mugo wa Wairimu was arrested in Gachie, Kiambu County after being on the run for two weeks. Mugo was arrested by Flying Squad officers who had been staking on him for the better part of the day. He was hiding in a house belonging to his cousin when police found him.
Mugo has been avoiding police dragnets since November 3 after he learnt his staff had been arrested in Nairobi. The two interns at his clinic in Kayole have since been charged in court. The court later released them on a ksh 200,000 bond amount.
The court has ruled that Mugo Wairimu will remain in custody till 6, December 2018 when the court will hear his bail application.
Milan Health International, a private clinic associated with quack doctor James Mugo Ndicho alias Mugo Wa Wairimu, lacked a business permit and a license from City Hall.
Only 1,500 private clinics in Nairobi County have the permits to offer medical services, a report shows.
The report by the County Public Health Department reveals that there are 2,315 private clinics, 800 or 34 percent of which are open and offering services to residents illegally.
