Manchester City boss gives up?

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has rubbished talks of a back-to-back title win.

Guardiola who will lead his side to London to face West Ham United on Saturday says he is only focused on the games at hand. He reckons that Man City will win some matches draw in others and even loose so the best way to face the season is to focus on the current assignments.

“Right now, I am only focused on winning the next game. If we focus on winning back to back titles, we forget what we need to do. There is no sense in talking about that. Some games we are going to lose and some we will win. Now comes the toughest part of the season.

“The guys have believed in the organisation from the start. We have more time together, we are learning more together, sometimes I have to be tough with my team, sometimes I have to be sweet with them but the feeling that we have together is comfortable on.” Guardiola said in a Friday press conference.

Confirming that full-back Benjamin Mendy will miss the actions for a period of 12 weeks, the manager further added that they will miss Bernardo Silva.

“The guys who don’t play are uncomfortable. Some ways we are better than last season because we learn from our mistakes. First game after the international break is always difficult. We will see tomorrow.

“Silva cannot play this weekend. The injury is not a big one but he cannot play this weekend. Mendy will be out for 10-12 weeks.” Guardiola confirmed.

Can they defend the title?
