Harambee Stars defender wins prestigious award in Zambia

They say hard and smart work pays. Harambee stars vice-captain Musa Mohammed has been feted in Zambia barely six months after arriving in the country.Talk about talent.

The Nkana FC player was on Saturday honored with the Patron’s Award for the most outstanding personality on and off the pitch during the 2018 league season.

This was during the club’s gala awards held at the Nkana stadium in Kitwe.

For his efforts, Mohammed was presented with a trophy and a brown envelope whose contents we could not immediately establish.

“I am happy, I am proud. I wish to thank everyone who helped me and who recognized me, including my family,” the former Gor Mahia captain said.

Mohammed has been a mainstay in the Nkana defence since joining the club in July 2018. He is yet to taste defeat in 16-competitive matches and has already won the domestic cup title and attained a second place finish in the league.

The defender is currently preparing with his teammates to face Mozambican club Songo in the preliminaries of the Caf Africa Champions League on November 27 or 28.

Congolese Idriss Mbombo was named the club’s player of the year at the event.

Zambian club happy to sign experienced Musa Mohamed

Musa  signed a two-year contract and the club is happy to sign a player of the caliber of Musa who has won four Kenya Premier League titles, Super Cup and the CECAFA Senior Challenge with Harambee Stars. He captained Stars to win the regional tournament against Zanzibar.

“The former Gor Mahia FC and FK Tirana FC central defender who can also play as right back, signed his contract today at Nkana FC Secretariat situated at Nkana Stadium. Mohammed brings with him four (4) Kenyan Premier League titles and captained the Kenya National Team to win the Council for East and Central Africa Football Association (Cecafa) Senior Challenge Cup hosted in Kenya in 2017.” Nkana confirmed.

“Mohammed becomes the latest Nkana signing after former Power Dynamos FC, midfielder, Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba during this mid-year transfer window. On behalf of the Nkana FC President, Evaristo Kabila, Chief Executive, Charles Chakatazya and everyone at Nkana, we wish the two players all best as they take on their new jobs.” the club added.

Musa terminated his contract with Albania’s side KF Tirana after a short stint with his former head coach Ze Maria. Reports had earlier linked him with a move to Sofapaka.
