Obado walks home after another hefty blow.

The Kibera law courts have released governor Zakary Okoth Obado on a sh 500,000 bail.

The governor was arrested on Wednesday over possession of 8 guns which were recovered from his homes both in Migori and Nairobi among other electronic devises.

The EACC officer obtained a court order to search Obado’s homes in attempt to pile more evidence in the alleged corruption case the governor is believed to have been involved.

Obado was arraigned in court on Thursday. The prosecution side requested the court for 15 more days to carry out further investigations regarding the guns.

The prosecution wanted to carry out ballistic examination to assertain whether the guns were used to carry out other criminal activities and also to establish the legibility of the guns which were recovered in Obado’s home.

The Migori Governor, who is also facing charges of murdering a university student, is accused by the anti-graft body of siphoning Ksh.2 billion from the county coffers through companies registered by his relatives.

The commission received credible information that a few persons well known to be proxies of the governor, registered several companies for the purpose of fraudulent acquisition of public funds through fictitious contracts,” says EACC in documents filed in court.

His lawyer, Cliff Ombeta described the prosecution side as malicious and wanted his client to be set free as the reason presented were not compelling.
