Arsenal forward opens up on struggles in first season

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has revealed he struggled at the club in his first season.

The Frenchman says he was frustrated and did not enjoy the best first season in north London side as he did not live up to the expectations. Lacazette endured a difficult period at Arsenal as injuries rocked him as well as loss of confidence.

However, since he returned from a knee injury late in the year, he has formed one of the lethal attacks after partnering with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Lacazette tried to reflect his first season at the Emirates and admitted he was frustrated but due to his patience, he is now enjoying a good run under Unai Emery.

“I was frustrated but it was my first season and all of my family said don’t be like that, enjoy being at a great club,” said Lacazette.

“When you receive the ball [in France], maybe you have one metre more so you can manage the ball. Here, defenders don’t care about who you are,” he added.

The 27-year-old has so far netted five Premier League goals while providing three assists
