Tottenham withdraw Kieran Trippier from England squad and Spurs fans are saying the same thing

Tottenham have withdrawn Kieran Trippier from the England squad.

The right-back was called up by Gareth Southgate for the friendly with the USA on Thursday and the Nations League encounter with Croatia on Sunday.

But the 28-year-old limped off during Spurs’ 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday evening and Tottenham have withdrawn him from England duty as a result.

The club’s official Twitter account said: “Kieran Trippier has been withdrawn from the England squad to face the USA and Croatia due to a groin injury.”

Trippier had been among five Spurs players to be called up for the games, alongside Harry Kane, Dele Allie, Eric Dier and Harry Winks.

Trippier was one of 27 players to report to St George’s Park on Monday but, following assessment over the last 24 hours, it was decided that he would return to his club to continue rehabilitation.

Spurs will be hoping the injury is not too serious and that he is available for selection when the Premier League returns in just under two weeks with Tottenham facing a Wembley date with Chelsea on November 24.

His withdrawal got the fans talking on Twitter and they were all saying the same thing – that the club should withdraw Kane from England duty too.

Others also wanted to see Alli, Dier and Winks return to the club without playing.

What is your view on Trippier’s groin injury? Could it affect the team?
