DP Ruto Lead Thousands in a Cheering Spree at Safari 7s

Deputy President William Ruto’s love for sports is something that cannot be refuted. After leading a fully packed Kasarani stadium in supporting the harambee stars during their match against Ethiopia, the deputy President was again leading another supporters club and this time it was at the RFUEA grounds.

Ruto was in the company of sports CS Rashid Echesa, Starehe Mp Jaguar among a host of other leaders.

Ruto witnessed as Samurai International became the 2018 Safari 7s champions after beating hosts Shujaa of Kenya 21-14 in the finals.

Three converted tries did the magic for Samurai as they dethrone Shujaa for their first glory since 2015 when they won it at Kasarani Stadium.

Ruan Mostert, Hugo Stiels and Kurt-Lee Arendse scored for Samurai with Van Angus and Augustine Lugonzo adding the extras to secure the win.

Johnstone Olindi and Daniel Taabu crossed over for the losing side.

Kenya Morans finished third after beating Spain 12-5 while Portugal won Plate with a 31-5 win over Homeboyz.

Shujaa next outing will be in the Dubai Sevens in two weeks’ time where they are scheduled to play Fiji, France and Scotland in pool B.

Yesterday, former champions Kenya Shujaa and Kenya Morans both went through to the main Cup quarterfinals.

Shujaa touched down six tries and four conversions to crush Apache from United Kingdom 42-0 to sail through, having previously downed Mwamba 53-0 in their opening Pool “A” outing.

Rating from their performance at the Safari 7s, how do you think the Shujaaz will fair on at the Dubai 7s?
