Jose Mourinho has eased fears of a Manchester United injury crisis ahead of their crunch derby clash with neighbours Manchester City. The Red Devils come into the match on the back of a shock Champions League victory over Juventus in midweek.

However, Alexis Sanchez was spotted limping off before the dramatic comeback while Romelu Lukaku has been sidelined with a muscle injury in recent weeks. Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Mourinho said: “No new injures.

“So from Juventus we don’t bring important injuries.

“We have touches but I don’t think any player that was available for Juventus will be out.

“We have a chance – It is Friday morning now – that Lukaku could be back.”

The Portuguese boss’ comments suggest Sanchez is not carrying a serious problem, despite being pictured holding an ice pack to his thigh after his substitution.Sanchez started up front in the Champions League win and could retain his place, even if Lukaku is fit.

The Belgian international is out of form and hasn’t scored in his past nine appearances. Lukaku was dropped against Everton last month before picking up a muscle issue which kept him out of trips to Bournemouth and Turin.

Sanchez’s return is bad news for Marcus Rashford, who would have hoped to earn a rare start up front.

The 20-year-old had been used primarily as a substitute this season but could spearhead the United attack if necessary.

Anthony Martial should continue on the left flank after bagging five goals in his last four games while Ander Herrera is expected to start in midfield.

The Spaniard impressed last weekend against Bournemouth and was rewarded with an appearance against Juventus, helping provide more balance to the Red Devils midfield than summer signing Fred.
