Con artists are different in more ways than anyone can imagine, with the main point being—you don’t see it. You in no way, shape, or form could have predicted their intentions were disingenuous the entire time.
On 31st March 2014, a Danish based online lending platform MYC4 issued a statement informing international lenders that one of its African partners Kenya Entrepreneurship Empowerment Foundation (KEEF) based in Kiambu, had embezzled funds in excess of Ksh 214 million.
At the center of this multi-million scandal was none other than the controversial Kiambu businessman Mr. Daniel Kimani, founder and CEO of the now collapsed KEEF. Kimani is at the center of yet another scandal. The Ridgeways Inn – The Yard, this time he is attempting to wrestle the hotel from its rightful owner a former Miss Tourism Kenya winner, Ms. Sylvia Wambui Karanja.
Incidentally, it is said he had ‘stolen’ the idea from former Gatundu North MP Clement Kung’u Waibara who was the first to run a table banking system or chamaas that propelled him to parliamet.
After writing the proposal, donors came in their thousands and boom… Kamau had over 200million. That’s when this ‘woman-eater’ started his dairy farming venture in Mushroom Estate, off Kiambu Road.
He used the money meant for women groups to build his empire – though short-lived. Unfortunately, the farming venture didn’t kick-off as he had anticipated. He ran into serious debts, failed to pay suppliers and the vets. Within a year or so his entire stock of over 300 cows was gone.
The flamboyant conman even had a reserved parking lot in Kiambu Town at MAPA house where he used to park his big machine – Maserati. He paid for the parking yearly and if he ever found a motorist having parked there, Kimani would park his vehicle behind it and leave it there for two days.
Kimani was law unto himself. Arrogant to core. He allegedly crashed the German machine hoping to get compensated by insurance but unfortunately his tricks didn’t work, his fortunes had started dwindling. The car maker, Maserati, sent in investigators who disputed the cause of accident and thus his 20million worth car was reduced to scrap metal, he sold it for a song.
On this Ridgways saga, Silvia Wambui wanted to apply for a loan together with Kimani so that they could improve the establishment. However, when they applied for the loan, their company details showed that Kimani was a Director and having been listed by CRB for defaulting several loans, their request could not go through.
At this juncture, Kimani cunningly tricked Silvia into transferring their shares to third company which didn’t bear his names and continue with the bank transaction; i.e loan application. That’s when Silvia started being suspicious and after investigating his background, the guy turned out to be another Jowie, ‘woman eater’.
It was a trap, Kimani wanted to dislodge his fiancee from the business by tactfully elbowing her through our corrupt judiciary. This explains why Silvia run away from their rented home in Kiambu that Silvia had been paying rent. She is possibly feeling threatened and just like Monica, death was starring on her.
Kimani is not only a jilted lover, he is a broke and who should be investigated for theft, fraud and forgery. That lady is very very lucky to be alive.
