Kalonzo Offers to Light President Uhuru’s Path

It was widely expected that the funeral ceremony of the late Mzee Peter Mairu was going to be centered around politics and political talk. The late Mairu was hailed as an outstanding Kenyan.

Eulogies aside, political talk took center-stage and the climax of it all was when Kalonzo took to the podium to speak. It seems like the political cold is getting unbearable to Kalonzo and it is maybe because of this that the former vice president has now offered to be President Kenyatta’s right hand man.

‘Nitakua mtu ya mkono ya Uhuru kuanzia leo.’ swore Kalonzo

Kalonzo says that at his age, he cannot afford to gamble in politics. Kalonzo has been in the political cold since 2013. In the previous two general elections, the former VP was the running mate to opposition Chief Raila Odinga and in both instances, they lost to the duo of Uhuru and Ruto.

Could it be that the son of Mairu is now looking for a way to make a political comeback? Well, you can view it in any way you like but the fact is that power is sweat and Kalonzo would surely want to get some of it back.

Kalonzo’s influence in the Ukambani region is something that cannot be ignored. The former VP, with the help of his right hand men like former Senator Johnstone Muthama continue to command a huge following in the region.

It will be interesting to see how things turn out to the Vice President politically after his seemingly bold move.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s father the late Peter Mairu was being laid to rest in Tseikuru, Kitui County. President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and Opposition leader Raila Odinga were among leaders attending the funeral.

The funeral service at Tseikuru Baraza park brought together leaders from both sides of the political divide in the country.

Mr Kenyatta landed at Tseikuru airstrip at 1pm, followed shortly by Mr Odinga.

National Super Alliance leader Musalia Mudavadi, Senators James Orengo, Mutula Kilonzo, Kipchumba Murkomen, Governors Charity Ngilu, Alfred Mutua, Kivutha Kibwana, Granton Samboja, among leaders are also at the funeral.

Mr Ruto who had arrived earlier, several cabinet secretaries, dozens of MPs  & senators were among leaders present.

Do you think Kalonzo working with Uhuru will be beneficial to him?
