What do you do when life pushes you over the limit?Its so sad that there are those who get pressed enough to do the craziest thing and they decide suicide is it.

In an unfortunate tragedy a boy raised alarm which attracted neighbors who rushed to the homestead and rescued a woman trying o commit suicide by cutting the net just in time.

They then administered first aid on her but, after regaining consciousness, she attempted to take poison but was restrained by members of Nyumba Kumi.

Kapkisiara location Chief Lazarus Kirui, said the woman tried to take her own life by hanging herself using a mosquito net.

The administrator said the woman’s five-year-old son found her dangling from the rafters and kicking in the air while groaning in pain upon entering the house.

The  40-year-old woman who reportedly attempted to commit suicide in Sugutek village, Bureti sub-county,did so over stress-related issues.

The area chief, afterwards, rushed the woman to Roret sub-district Hospital where she was treated and later discharged.

She was then transferred to Roret Police Station where she is being held awaiting to be arraigned in court.

This comes after A 10-year-old boy committed suicide on Wednesday morning at Ndimu village in Molo, Nakuru County.

Confirming the incident, Elburgon Assistant County Commissioner Naftali Korir  said the Class Five pupil hanged himself at their home.

According to the commissioner, preliminary investigations indicate that the boy took his life after he was denied permission to travel to Nairobi for holidays.

The number of suicides reported in Kenya rose by 58 per cent between 2008 and 2017 to reach 421, official data reveal.

The World Population Review ranks Kenya at position 114 among 175 countries with the highest suicide rate.In its survey it states that Kenya’s suicide rate is at least 6.5 suicides per 100,000 people, a figure echoed by World Health Organisation.

On the other hand World Bank report released last year showed that a total of 1.9 million depression cases were reported in Kenya by 2015.

The report ranked Kenya as the sixth country with the highest number of depression cases among African countries.

The WHO approximations show that more than 300 million people are affected by depression globally and the condition is linked to the suicides of more than 800,000 people each year.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death among youth in the 15-29 age bracket.

Besides depression, other risk factors include access to firearms, physical or sexual abuse, unemployment, strained relationships, imprisonment, chronic physical illness, financial difficulties, loneliness and exposure to the suicidal behaviour of others.
