Arsenal skipper nearing return

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has provided injury updates on the defending trio of Laurent Koscielny, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Nacho Monreal ahead of their UEFA Europa League clash against Sporting Lisbon on Thursday 8th November in an 11 PM EAT kick off.

Laurent Koscielny raptured his Achilles last season in the same competition while playing against Atletico Madrid who eventually went on to win the title. Mavropans suffered a groin injury back in September and hasn’t featured for the club since then. Monreal was withdrawn from the squad that beat Leicester City 3-1 with a hamstring injury.

Emery provided an injury update on the trio, “At the moment we continue to have injuries for Mavropanos and Koscielny, he is getting better training with us. Nacho [Monreal] we are taking precaution with him because we don’t want to repeat the same injury. He is starting to train but not doing all with us. He isn’t in the group for tomorrow.”

The Spaniard manager had this to say when asked when Koscielny will return, “The most important thing is his feeling every day. He can feel better each training with us. He is closer to being with us in competition games. But at the moment we are calm, we are happy with him and he is feeling well.”
