Angered Kenyans throw stones at the judiciary

Justice we can say is a dish best served immediately failure to do so shows the system may be corrupt.This is the story of the Kenyan judiciary that is now under public scrutiny for several failures that is threatening their reputation of standing for the just.

Embezzlement of funds is among other reasons like the shock that added Kenyans fury yesterday when they unbelievably found out that a quack doctor once exposed for unforgivable crimes was still in operation in another clinic in Kayole.

KOT have taken to twitter to express their disappointment after people learned that the police are looking for Mugo Wa Wairimu again for questioning after determination that he allegedly is operating an illegal clinic in Kayole, Nairobi. They also recovered materials they believed were used in procurement of abortions at the clinic.

Head of Flying Squad Musa Yego asked for public support to arrest Mugo. He was once arrested and charged in 2015 with various offences linked to operating an illegal clinic in Githurai 44, Nairobi and raping a sedated woman.

According to the prosecutor, on November 1, 2014, at Prestige Health care Clinic in Nairobi, Mugo raped the woman after giving her four tablets of an unknown drug. He also denied operating a drug shop not registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.

His arrest was sparked by public outrage after a video recording believed to be of him sedating and raping a female patient circulated in the media.

The Judiciary is also on the spot over unexplained expenditures totalling Sh 961 million following an audit.

In his latest report for the year ended June 30, 2017 tabled in parliament, Auditor General Edward Ouko says the Judiciary failed to provide crucial documents for audit review raising fears that Sh 961, 369,702 million of taxpayers money might have been lost.

Among the items that the Judiciary failed to provide documents for expenditure include purchase of furniture and equipment at Sh 8,861,110, purchase of vehicles and transport equipment at Sh 8,514,880, group personal insurance Sh 943,698,070 and Nakuru AIE at Sh 295,642.

According to the report, management explained that documents relating to group personal insurance were taken by Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission for investigations and therefore only photocopies of the documents were presented for audit.

The Auditor General however said the photocopies could not be reviewed and confirmed in absence of the originals.

The judiciary is also on the cross for methods of determining evidence regarded as real proof.
