I’m sure most women will agree with the People Magazine this year, at least they got it right for 2018 or what do you think?

At 46 years, Idris Elba was on Monday night announced as the “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2018. The announcement was made on NBC’s “The Tonight Show” hosted Jimmy Fallon. Elba appeared on the late-night show via Skype from London, where he smiled non-stop and joked about being the 33rd person in Hollywood to receive the title.

“Who’d have thought it! Thank you @people & all the fans for naming me . Don’t forget to grab your issue this week. I’m honoured & thankful…” he said in a tweet.

The British actor, producer, musician and DJ used this opportunity to urge Americans to turn out and vote in their mid-term election today.

“What’s even more important is your vote in the midterm elections. Your vote can make a difference,” said Idris.

In reaction to the recognition, the “Thor” star said he’s “really happy with that one. My mum is going to be very, very proud.” Elba flashed a shy smile at Fallon’s request, flexed his bicep and thanked the magazine.

The internet seems to be in agreement with the People magazine compared to last year when country singer and the Voice coach, Blake Shelton took the title.

The British star said he did not believe it when the People Magazine told him that he was their choice for the sexiest man alive.

“I was like, ‘Come on, no way. Really?” Looked in the mirror, I checked myself out. I was like, ‘Yeah, you are kind of sexy today.’ But to be honest, it was just a nice feeling. It was a nice surprise, an ego boost for sure,” he said.

Although ladies are fanning over Elba, he is off the market after he proposed to his girlfriend, now fiance, Sabrina Dhowre in February this year.

He now becomes one of the few black people to receive the accolade since the inaugural “Sexiest Man Alive” spread in 1985, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson (2016) and Denzel Washington (1996).
