Migori Governor Okoth Obado Slaps Raila in the Face

Okoth Obado, a man that has recently hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons but whose political prowess is unquestionable. He is by far the only senior politician from Luo Nyanza to have openly opposed Raila Odinga and ODM and still got away with it. Well, with all due respect to the governor, let’s not bring in the Sharon Otieno Murder issue here.

The former teacher is now scheduled to host deputy President William Ruto tomorrow. (Monday)

Political pundits have viewed this as a slap on Mr. Odinga’s face. It will be remembered that Raila Odinga openly told Obado to carry his own cross when the governor was faced with a huge court battle because of Murder.

Well, it seems the governor has decided to walk the talk as he is set to host Mr. Odinga’s biggest obstacle to Statehouse come 2022.

Ruto will be in Suna West Sub-county where he will launch the construction of the tarmac road between Masara and Muhuru beach and later address a public rally at Masara trading centre.

Kuria West member of parliament (MP) Mathias Robi, who is a close ally of Mr Ruto, confirmed the DP will be in the county to commission the construction of the road as part of the Jubilee administration’s promise to develop all regions in Kenya.

“Mr Ruto is coming to Migori to launch the construction of the road. Jubilee is keen on developing all regions in Kenya,” saidMr. Robi.

Mr Nicholas Anyuor, the director of communication in the governor’s office, also confirmed the trip, saying preparations to receive the DP were on course.

“We are all set to receive the DP for the development tour,” he said.

But Mr Anyuor was quick to reject the perception of political undertones in the visit, maintaining it is meant to spur development in the region.

The deputy president’s visit to Homa bay and Migori Counties comes just a week after Gideon Moi visited Homa Bay and was given a warm welcome by both the residents and political leaders from the region.

It will be interesting to see how the deputy president counter’s Gideon Moi’s perceived growing influence in the region after it emerged that leader’s from Homa bay led by Hon. Gladys Wanga assured Gideon of the region’s support.

Gladys Wanga said the handshake deal between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila is an indication the latter is a reputable leader who means well for the country.

She said they will support Gideon in his political endeavours.

“We want Gideon to work together with Mr Odinga and take this country forward. We are humbled with his humility. He has all the qualities of a good leader,” said Wanga.

Wanga continued her praises on Gideon Moi terming him a man that can champion for development in the country.

William Ruto and Gideon Moi do not see eye to eye politically. Some leaders from the two regions have also publicly opposed William Ruto’s Presidential ambitions terming them as pure wild dreams.
