Has Arsenal come of age? Here is what the keeper thinks

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno reckons the team is now ready to compete with top teams.

Leno was particularly in fine form as they battled to a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at the Emirates. He denied Virgil van Dijk an open opportunity to score as he brilliantly dealt with Liverpool threat all through the match. The only blemish was when he parried the ball onto James Milner’s path for the Reds’ opener.

“That we can take on the big ones. That we can dominate the big ones. I believe we were the better side today and that’s how we must continue. We have difficult matches ahead of us. Wolves next week, probably a whole different match. But you could see that they recognise what we play. Liverpool had a lot of respect. They didn’t dare to go all in on the pressing. I believe this, in any case, must give us courage.” Leno told ESPN.

“It was a test of how we are against a team like Liverpool. After City, after Chelsea, maybe we are more near in our performance to be in front of them. But we need this quality in every match,” Umai Emery, Arsenal coach said.

Arsenal will play Wolves next week as rejuvenation under Emery continues.
