Controversial self proclaimed NRM General Miguna Miguna recently branded Raila as Africa’s Minister for funerals, burials and roads.
This was after the former prime minister was appointed as African Union’s high representative for Infrastructure and development a post Miguna believes does not exist because African roads are built by individual countries.
As much as I would like to disagree with Miguna, I think he makes more sense in his description of Raila, since the ODM leader is so fond of funerals than anything else. I am not saying that attending funerals is bad, but shouldn’t leaders be more interested in saving lives than burying them.
On Friday, Nairobi governor Mike Sonko brought the internet to a standstill when pictures emerged online of his team in Gem, Siaya County to rescue former celebrated boxer Conjestina Achieng.
Conjestina put Kenya on the map of boxing when she won the WIBF Middleweight world championionship. During her hey days, she was the darling of many prominent people among them Raila himself.
But the former queen of the ring has been struggling with a mental condition for the past few years. An undated video emerged recently showing her deteriorating condition.
The video shows some people making fun of Conje. They ask her to throw some punches in the air to reminisce her glory days which she obliges. The unidentified people then unashamedly hand her Sh100 and ask her to deduct Sh50 and hand back the change.
The video which has since gone viral cause an uproar on social media, with people asking the government to rescue Conje.
Despite coming from Siaya County, nobody including Raila came to Conjestina’s rescue. Raila also comes from Siaya County and it would have been easy for him to call governor Rasanga and instruct him to help Conjestina.
So why didn’t he do that? One Kenyan believe she has the answer. According to one lady,calling herself the Kenyan Parrot, Raila and other Nyanza politicians were waiting for her to die before attending her funeral to play politics.
“All the leaders from Luo Nyanza will only wait until Conjestina dies, then they congregate at her funeral to tell you how William Samoei Ruto is a thief and how Raila Odinga is going to become president and you clap for them. Bure Kabisa!
