Photos: Gor Mahia’s journey to Goodison Park setts off in expensive suits

Gor Mahia FC team of players and officials’ trip to United Kingdom ahead of a clash with Everton FC at Goodison Park has set off this morning.

The team looked good in khaki trousers and dark blue blazers.

The historic fixture next Tuesday November 6, 2018 (7pm kick-off) for the SportPesa Trophy will be the first visit of an African club side to a Premier League stadium but is the second meeting between the Everton and the Kenyan champions in as many years.

Gor Mahia manager Dylan Kerr is expecting to face a strong Everton side at Goodison Park but believes his side will surprise the Blues players and supporters alike with their ability.

A true footballing globe-trotter, Kerr was born in Malta and has coached in South Africa, the USA, Vietnam, Tanzania and now Kenya but his voice attests to his Yorkshire roots.

While many of his squad are venturing to play outside of Africa for the first time, Kerr has already played at Goodison Park in his own playing career but that was in the old Central League against the Blues second string and he’s expecting next week’s match to be rather different.

Gor Mahia have been recording good performance in Kenya Premier league since 2012 and expect nothing than better results at Goodison Park. The last time they met with Everton in Tanzania for the same trophy, they were smashed 2-1 despite having played to their level best.

In 2012, they finished second in Kenya Premier league, became champions in the year 2013, 2014 and 2015 consecutively. In 2016, they finished second but the following seasons of 2017 and 2018 they went back to their champions status.

Will they manage to beat Everton from away?
