Jacque Maribe’s boyfriend is the only suspect currently in custody over the murder of Monica Kimani. This is after police released Jennings Orlando, a Recce squad officer who had also been arrested over the murder.
It is believed that Orlando was with Jowie on the night of Monica’s murder and has helped detectives gather key information over the case.
Monica was found dead in her apartment along Denis Pritt road in Lamuria Gardens Kilimani Area on the night of 19th September. Her hands had been tied behind her back and her throat slit. Her family also claimed that she had been raped.
Police have since arrested and charged Jowie Irungu and his celebrity girlfriend Jacque Maribe with the murder of the 28 year old.
Orlando had also been arrested as a key suspect in the case but has since been released after Chief Investigation Officer Maxwell Otieno, dropped the application to detain Orlando any further.
Jennings who was appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Stella Atambo was however directed to report to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesdays every week for a period of 2 months.
According to the Prosecution, the suspect will be treated as State Witness once the investigations are complete. Jennings was arrested in Nairobi on Thursday October 18,2018 and arraigned before Resident Magistrate Justus Kituku. Police had been given 14 days to detain him as investigations continued.
His release brings to two, the number of people of persons who are out of custody. Maribe was released on a sh 2 million bail on Tuesday by judge James Wakiaga.
The judge however banned the Citizen TV news anchor from appearing on TV or conducting interviews, meaning we won’t be seeing her on TV until after the case is determined mid next year.
Jowie was however unlucky, as Justice Wakiaga denied him bail on grounds that he is a flight risk and his love for guns maybe a threat to witnesses.
Justice Wakiaga shocked the country when he called Jowie a female version of a slay queen and a woman eater.
