Sonko’s directive to night clubs takes effect immediately

Nairobi city county government has warned that they will shut and withdraw licences of noisy night clubs, social joints in estates during this examination period.

In a statement to newsrooms Nairobi governor Mike Sonko says the move is geared towards creating an enabling environment for students and pupils to study and take their exams peacefully.

‘‘We are keen in ensuring that our candidates are not disturbed during this period and those will defy this directive will face full force of the law,’’ He added.

According noise pollution enforcement head Lawrence Mukuru Mwangi ,they have started to crack the whip on the defiant clubs and last weekend they have arrested over 15 DJs in various clubs within CBD Westlands,Dagoreti and Kilimani areas.

‘‘ We have tightened our operations and we will work close with Nairobi Liquor Control and Licensing Board and National Environmental Authority effect the directive.’’ Mukuru said.

Areas spotted to be noisy are Umoja, Saika Kayole Junction, Westlands,along Mombasa road, CBD and Kiambu road.

The directive take effects immediately.
