Pep shocked of what happened to his friend Lopetegui

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has sympathized with Julen Lopetegui after he was sacked by Real Madrid on Monday.

Guardiola said he felt bad that Lopetegui had to be dismissed adding that “if we don’t win we will be sacked.” The former Spain coach was axed on Monday after the Los Blancos suffered a 5-1 defeat to rivals Barcelona on Sunday in El Clasico encounter.

Speaking to the press after his side beat Tottenham 1-0 on Monday, Guardiola said, “Football I know what it is, we are still here because we win games if we don’t win we will be sacked. I’m sorry for Julen because he’s a friend of mine. He’s an exceptional person.”

“I want to call him in the next few days. It is what it is. It’s football, nobody escapes that. When you have bad results you will not continue in big, big places like Barcelona or Madrid … I wish him all the best.”
