Kenyans express worry in the launched New York Direct flight

On Sunday night, President Uhuru Kenyatta flagged off the Kenya Airways inaugural direct flight to New York.

The KQ Dreamliner 787-8 took off at 10: 45 pm from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to New York’s JF Kennedy Airport.

The plane took off under the control of Captain Joseph Kinuthia alongside other three assistant captions.

The Kenyan media houses gave the flight a very big coverage, making it a big story.

However, Kenyans are not at ease following the media coverage the flight received, warning of more dangers than profit.

They have really condemned the media for allowing themselves to be used by the flight organizers to that extend.

They have cautioned Kenya Airways of the losses they have been making over a long period of time, citing that the direct flight to New York will make more losses than the much anticipated benefits.

Being expensive is also an issue Kenyans are angered with, citing that Kenyans abroad would prefer using middle east based airlines to KQ’s direct flight.

Sungura Mwituni, a facebook user posted, “Our media houses are making this flight seem like it’s going to heaven alive and coming back on foot. Nothing much will come out this even if they use the best perfume from eastleigh to spray it with coz many Kenyans working abroad will still use Middle East based airlines or European ones because they are convienient, cheap and offer better services than our own airline. KQ is very expensive yet makes losses every year.#KLM the Dutch airline offer executive service both in economy & business class cheaper than this Kenya airways ?..sisi watu wa forward traveller webe ni ure ure… Matatu Alafu unaongeza na Footsubishi.”

His post steered more reactions from other facebook users, who condemned the country of giving that much attention to the flight, Citing that Kenya was not the first Country in Africa to launch direct flights to New York.

They cited that Ghana, Nigeria, Cape Verdes and south Africa have been silently doing doing direct flights to America.
