KQ Cements its Status as the African Pride, no doubt…

Kenyans on Sunday came together to celebrate the historic Kenya Airways direct to New York. We all know that the hospitality on board a Kenya Airways flight cannot be matched by any other airline in the world. It is why KQ earned the title, ‘The Pride of Africa’. Kenyans yesterday could not disagree with this.

The flight was flagged off by President Uhuru Kenyatta last night and several leaders and Kenyans gathered at the airport to see off the passengers who were taking off with the flight.

Some of the leaders who were present were Nairobi governor Mike Sonko who shared his excitement on a long post via  his Facebook page.

According to Governor Sonko, the historic flight is a development that is significant for many reasons. As part of his message he also congratulated Kenya airways for their efforts and their services.

“First, it gives us a real opportunity to grow our tourism numbers. The 1.6 million tourists Kenya receives every year is nowhere near our country’s potential. In fact, Kenya can easily hit 5 million tourist arrivals, with the right marketing and the right product mix.

The African-American population is an important niche market. Many Black Americans travel to Africa in search of their roots, and are tapped by West African Countries like Ghana, Liberia and Senegal. Other Americans, whose homes become very cold during long winter seasons, are also welcome to Kenya to enjoy the warm climate.

This direct flight also gives Kenya the chance to increase the volume of trade with America.

This flight is therefore important in giving Kenyans a chance to travel with knowledge that they will be treated well, both at the airport and on the plane.” reads post in part

It was all celebrations for everyone, from politicians to media personalities and all citizens took pride in this achievement.
