Roads closure ahead of the Standard Chartered Marathon

Tomorrow marks the 15th edition of the Standard Chartered Marathon; Nairobi residents and those living in areas adjacent to it should make proper arrangements on how to access the city tomorrow.

The affected roads include sections of Mombasa road, Uhuru Highway, Upper Hill and Forest road while within the CBD, Kenyatta Avenue, Muindi Mbingu and sections of Haile Selasie and University Way will also be closed.

Failure to make arrangements may cost someone since there will be major traffic interruptions in Nairobi that day as key roads will be closed for the Standard Chartered Marathon.

Sources reveal that the  roads will be closed from Sunday midnight – 4 am

ROADCLOSURE TIME FOR STANDARD CHARTERED NAIROBI MARATHON: The Nairobi traffic Department has said that roads closures & diversions times for the Stanchart Nairobi Marathon set for Sunday 28/10/18 will be from 4am to 2pm.

The race, which is dubbed “run for reason,” starts along Processional Way in Uhuru Park and finish at Uhuru Park and not along Haile Selassie Avenue opposite Railway Club as announced during the launch.

Last year the event was moved to Railway Club from Nyayo National Stadium a a result of renovations works at the stadium.

Over 18,000 participants have registered for the races among them Valary Ayaibei, fresh from winning Beijing Marathon last month and will be out to defend her half marathon (21km) title.

Standard Chartered Bank will this year host the 15th edition of the Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon.

The Bank, with the support of event organizers, Athletics Kenya, have built an event that has become internationally renowned and has placed Kenya on the international map.

The Marathon is the flagship project for our ‘Seeing is Believing’ community imitative that aims to raise funds for the needy in the community.

Last year’s event attracted over 22,000 participants from all walks of life.
