Bishop Gilbert Deya blames his wife Mary Deya for his downfall and now seeks to divorce her.
He says ,he was in London running his ministry when all the ‘miracle baby business’ took place adding that at the time is wife Mary who was running the ministry in Kenya also delivered a child and purported that the child was a ‘miracle baby.’
The Bishop said that he did not know whether it was miraculous pregnancy or she has cheated on him. He said that they have since separated and were on the verge of concluding their divorce.
Bishop Deya was back in May released on Sh10 million cash bail or Sh10 million bond by High Court judge Luka Kimaru. This was after the preacher was deported from the UK to face child theft charges.
Deya was charged with five counts of stealing five children, all aged under 14 years, between 2002 and 2004, at Mountain View Estate, Nairobi.
In January, the High Court quashed the Ksh1 million bond Deya had been granted after the DPP sought orders to cancel the release term.
Bishop Deya has been at the Kamiti Maximum Prison since August 4, 2017, the day he was extradited from the UK and charged with the offense of child theft.
Deya had been evading justice since 2005 when he left for the UK.
While in the UK, the Kenyan authorities sought his extradition and he went to court to stop the request. He, however, lost the extradition proceedings in a London court but went ahead to appeal against the judgment.
He lost the appeal in 2008 and attempts to further stop his extradition hit a dead end last year.
However he maintained his innocence stating that God purposed for him to be in Kamiti. He said that he does not value material things and was willing to give out his land cruiser.
